A primar to the many challenges of working in a fast paced startup/agile environment for a designer and possible solutions to avoid common mistakes.
A multitasking designer is one of the key stakeholder in a startup's early stages where they define the product. As exciting this phase intellectually for the designer, this is also a stage where he/she tend to make some common design and decision mistakes. In this talk, ill be sharing my experiences from startup/lean culture, lessons learned, and some measures that i take to avoid those.
Here are the taking points for this proposal
1. Battling fast evolving requirements/feature sets
2. Addressing lack of documentation time
3. Ability to multitask
4. Dealing with incremental changes and user feedbacks
5. Going modular in design detailing
6. No chrome / Flat designs and its relevance in making faster design cycles
7. Importance of being hands on
Im an interaction designer with over 10 years of experience. Started my career in elearning, then moved around a bit working with small and large scale corporates in consumer/enterprise product teams(Yahoo, Adayana, Pramati, Groupsave, Freshdesk, Cucumbertown) as an interaction designer. I have worked for 3 startups over the last 2 years and this period has been one of great insights (and sleepless nights). I currently head the design efforts at cucumbertown.com
