Objective

Get introduced to GlitterGallery, an open source GitHub for designers. In this talk, I will be discussing the objectives behind a collaboration tool for designers, and the benefits it can have for a community. After interacting with interesting designers, I've been trying to understand the kind of social experience that would benefit them - I'll share my observations.

The talk itself will be interactive, as I'd like to understand problems designers face, and improve the product.

Description

At Fedora project, as part of a Google Summer of Code project, I co-authored a GitHub for designers, aimed at improving designer collaboration. Currently, it's based around the fork/pull design project model, and is beginning to be used by small open source design teams as an experiment.

Soon, we're going to be facilitating meetings, screen recordings and we're looking at other ways to reflect a designer's thought process. I'd like the talk to be interactive, where we discuss how we digitize a designer's thought process, and how we can offer a complete office for designers.

Requirements

Just bring along a list of design problems you've faced this far ;)

And just to get the context, you may want to read these two blogposts - I would add them to the links section, but it's fetching the entire content and looks ugly.
GSoC Wrapup: Introducing GlitterGallery

How it started

Speaker bio

I'm 19, and I love designers. I've co-authored GlitterGallery over the summer of 2013 as my Google Summer of Code project with Fedora.

At college, I help run the tech{know}logy club in college where I help juniors catch up with web awesomeness and spread design love! Currently, I'm interning at Cleartrip with the Product Design team.

Is this tool similar to https://www.pixelapse.com/ and some others http://www.quora.com/Is-there-something-like-GitHub-for-design-graphics

Also what you will show the process how you developd this tool or how to use it?

Jitendar, yes it is similar. It probably does not offer as many features yet, but I'd like to talk about it so i know what are the right set of features i should offer.

The tool can be hosted on your sever as it is open source. I will probably go over how to quickly host it, but apart from their i will leave aside any technical details about development unless asked for :-)

Sarup, a Flash Talk is 5 minutes and you don't get to use your own computer. You have to use the one we setup for you. Think you can manage it? Thumbs up from me if yes.

Hi Kiran, what about a Q&A? That's most important to me. I wanted to talk for 10 minutes including a small pitch of GG and my view on how to facilitate the tapping of designer thought process. The remaining 20, I wanted to hear what the more expert audience had to say on the topic and how would they go about this problem.

I could manage with a 5 minute pitch on HasGeek setup, but let's do this only if there are no 30 minute slots available :-)
